Meet Annette

Annette Johnson is a true force for good.

When she was elected in 2018, she campaigned on a promise to fight for Pike Township and the Pike Township Fire Department—and she has delivered. She has fought tirelessly to keep the department under local control. Despite repeated efforts to shift authority away from Pike residents to downtown leadership—even over the state’s top-rated department—she has stood her ground and won every time.

Her leadership goes far beyond governance. She opened a food pantry and created a mother-baby help room stocked with free diapers, formula, furnishings, and clothing for newborns. She also made the township government center available at no cost for HOAs and neighborhood organizations, strengthening community connections and support networks.

Pike Township is unique—one of the largest townships in the state while maintaining its own fire department. Johnson oversees one of the largest public budgets in Indiana, and her audits consistently pass with flying colors. In recognition of her leadership and service, she was named Trustee of the Year in 2022 and received the Fire Chief’s Association’s Elected Official of the Year award.
